Vampire Diaries Spoilers: Does Stefan Still Love Elena?

In the 100th episode of The Vampire Diaries, Stefan (Paul Wesley) encouraged Damon (Ian Somerhalder) to go for it with Elena (Nina Dobrev), which was quite a big step in his process of trying to get over his one-time love. But does it mean that Stefan no longer loves Elena? Executive producer Julie Plec weighs in on the complicated Stelena dynamic.

“Stefan has really come to terms with the intensity of the relationship between Damon and Elena,” Julie spilled to E! Online. “I think what he said in the finale last year, ‘I'm not not happy for you,’ he meant it. He recognized that the two of them have a very, very profound connection with each other. I think a lot of what he's trying to do is move past that and move on with his life.”

So, the way we interpret that is — regardless of his feelings for Elena (we think he totally still loves her) — he is actively trying to move on. Unfortunately, Katherine is probably not going to let that happen. As we saw at the end of the 100th episode, Katherine is now a “passenger” in her doppelganger’s body, and she has her/Elena’s eyes set on Stefan.

According to Julie, Katherine is “at her best of no good” as the show progresses. “The thing that's so great is that she's so into Stefan right now and so not into Damon right now, and yet Elena was about ready to re-embrace her relationship with Damon and Damon was all ready to win back his girl, so you can only imagine how that's going to go down,” Julie teased. So, whatever the nature of Stefan’s current feelings towards Elena, it sounds like Katherine-as-Elena will only be fanning the flames. Is it wrong that we kind of can’t wait to see this storyline play out?

The Vampire Diaries Spoilers: Caroline Gets Jealous of Elena and Stefan’s “Closeness”

On the most recent episode of The Vampire Diaries, Katherine became a passenger in Elena’s body, and all hell is about to break loose for the Salvatore brothers. Elena may be in love with Damon, but Katherine’s favorite Salvatore is Stefan, and knowing Katherine Pierce, she’s about to break some hearts — including Caroline’s!

According to TVGuide.com, “Caroline does get pretty jealous of Stefan and Elena's newfound closeness.” But, don’t get too excited, Steroline fans. We’re thinking Caroline is just jealous her bestie is hanging out with Elena, especially when she’s not exactly on Elena’s good side right now. For now, the TVD Powers That Be have no intention of making Stefan and Caroline’s connection a romantic one.

"Caroline and Stefan are really beautiful friends and we'll continue to shine that beautiful friendship,” Julie Plec told TVGuide.com. “We'll see if it evolves into anything more or if each of them go in their own direction."

This explains why Caroline finds a new friend in Luke, a “sarcastic and handsome” gay student at Whitmore. We’re excited to see Caroline make new friends outside of her Mystic Falls circle because once word gets out that she slept with Klaus, she might just find herself ostracized from the group.
